“At the Minute” U Minuty House is a stunning example of the high-Renaissance architecture. Covered in ornate sgraffito decorations depicting rulers from the Hapsburg house, Greek mythology as well as references to biblical and Renaissance legends, this house is easily recognizable with such an impressive facade. The house “At the Minute”, originally a late-Gothic structure from the 15th century, was rebuilt in Renaissance style in late 16th century. The house, called “At the White Lion”, was used to be a pharmacy. A sculpture of a white lion is still there, at the corner of the building. The present name “At the Minute” means “at the diminutive”, because of the tobacco in little pieces, that used to be sold there. Prague Charles Bridge details – interesting information and facts Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is an historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague, Czech Republic. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of the famous King Charles IV. This new bridge was originally called Stone Bridge (Kamenný most) or Prague Bridge (Pražský most). And, as the only means of crossing the river Vltava (Moldau) until 1841, Charles Bridge was therefore the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city’s Old Town. The Golden Lane is a row of miniature houses glued literally to the walls of the Prague Castle. They are coloured and the origin of some of them goes back to the 16 th century. The Dancing House is the nickname given to the building on the Rašín Embankment in Prague. It was designed by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in cooperation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. The very non-traditional design was controversial at the time. The house stands out among the Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings for which Prague is famous. In the opinion of some it does not accord well with these architectural styles. Václav Havel (former Czech President), who lived for decades close to the site, had avidly supported this project. Havel hoped that the building would become a centre of cultural activity.
