Palác Koruna

This palace at the bottom of Wenceslas Square was built in late Art Nouveau style. The building’s main feature is its corner tower shape, with its peak shaped as a stylized crown. Under the peak is an allegorical statue by Stanislav Suchard. It’s a retail-business centre with a number of shops, restaurants and offices. Practical information In the second half of the 19th century a well-known house called U Špinků stood here; its entire first floor was occupied by popular Café Vienna. In the 1860s patriots used to meet here, for example František Palacký, František Ladislav Rieger, August Brauner etc. There were newspapers and the very first pool in Prague available for guests. The Sternberg Palace on Hradčanské Square is one of the most significant works of the High Baroque in Bohemia. A museum dedicated to the life and work of the world-famous Art Nouveau artist Alphons Mucha (1860–1939) is located in the Baroque Kaunitz Palace in the city centre. A selection of about 100 works consisting of paintings, drawings, pastels, sculptures, photographs and personal items providing a unique insight into the world of the author of posters for Sarah Bernhardt. Martinic Palace (Martinický palác)

This building is one of the most beautiful Renaissance structures from the second half of the 16th century. The palace exteriors are richly decorated with figural sgraffito, while the interior hides carefully preserved Renaissance beamed ceilings. Curiously, it was only recently discovered that the palace has the same layout as the Royal Palace at Prague Castle, only at half-scale. The central space of the legendary Lucerna Palace is the Great Hall, which was completed in 1920 and at that time a very modern reinforced concrete construction. It consists of three underground levels, it’s 54 m long and 25.5 m wide, and can hold up to 4000 seats. The site is intended for the concerts of various musical genres, especially modern music.
