The Vinohrady Water Tower is one of the distinctive features of the Prague skyline. The Renaissance Revival prism-shaped tower building, dating back to the end of the 19th century, is forty metres high. During various periods of time, water was distributed from this location to as far away as Žižkov, Strašnice, Vršovice, parts of Nusle, and the Pankrác District. The tower served its original purpose until 1962 and is now a cultural landmark.
