#Prague Sights

December 12, 2018
I have about 500 shots of the Dancing House in Prague from every possible angle, portrait and landscape. They've been sitting on my disk for almost 2 years. I didn't know how to process them as the light was not great and an early attempt using Photomatix was a disaster...ISO 100, 14mm, f6.3, (1/1600, 1/400, 1/100 secs)...I chose the f-stop so that I would get fast enough speed for the moving cars. Blended and tonmeppaed in Photomatix using Details Enhancer. Reduced noise in Imagenomics Noiseware. Carefully straightened the vertilcals using the Lens Correction filter in PS as the whole point if the building is it's vertical lines. Used the Freaky Details technique to get lots of details on the windows, etc. Used Nik Viveza to reduce the white glow around the building that was left over from Photomatix processing (masking the clouds). Used 15% Nik Glamour Glow to reduce the harshness of the Photomatix and Freaky Details.

Dancing House (Tančící dům)

This pillar of modern architecture in Prague “danced” onto the Rašínovo Embankment in 1996. The project comes from the drawing board of world-renowned architects Vlado Milunić and Frank O. Gehry. Its concept was inspired by the dance skills of the famous film couple – the stone tower symbolizes Fred Astaire and the glass tower, his partner Ginger Rogers. A gallery and a restaurant with a terrace offering a 360° view of Prague can be visited in the Dancing House.   Contacts Dancing House (Tančící dům) Rašínovo nábřeží 80 / Jiráskovo náměstí 6 120 00 Praha 2- Nové Město Object history The Dancing house was built in the years 1992 – 1996. The house that stood there before was destroyed during the American air bombing of Prague on the 14th February of 1945. In 1992 the land was bought by the Netherlander insurance company Nationale […]

Bellevue

Bellevue

The building was constructed in the Dutch Renaissance style in the 19 th century and was given the name “Bellevue” (“beautiful view”) because of its location. An exceptional panoroma of the Vltava River and Prague’s Castle District enhance the perfect harmony of excellent wines and exclusive food served in the dimmed intimate atmosphere of the luxury restaurant bearing the same name. Contacts Bellevue Smetanovo nábřeží 18 110 00 Praha 1- Staré Město Object history The Bellevue on Smetana Embankment (Smetanovo nábřeží) was named based on the fact that it has one of the most beautiful Prague views of the Vltava River and Hradčany: Bellevue is a French word meaning a “beautiful view”. The same name was given to a café that was opened there by entrepreneur Filipi after the building completion. Previously, the Papoušek’s Bath (Papouškovy lázně) used to stand there. During the construction […]
