The Gallery is to be found in the so-called ‘Dancing House’ aka ‘Fred and Ginger’ on Rašínovo embankment – Prague’s modern landmark, authored by world-renowned architects Vlado Milunić and Frank O. Gehry. The Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the works of prominent Czech and international artists, as well as hosting various thematic exhibitions. You will also find a shop selling books and designs. In the Dancing House you can also visit the restaurant and enjoy the view from the rooftop terrace, with Prague laid out before you. A unique monumental architectural intervention, inspired by the elegant shapes of early twentieth-century airships, has appeared on the rooftop of one of the largest contemporary art spaces in the heart of Europe. The 42 m long steel and wood structure at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague has become a new permanent place for encounters between contemporary art and literature. The seat of the museum is monumental functionalist building near Letná Park. The museum was founded in 1908, and for over a hundred years it has built an extensive collection documenting the development of many technical fields, natural and exact sciences and industry. The memorial building on top of Vítkov Hill was built between the years 1928 and 1938 in honour of the Czechoslovak legionaries. The exhibition “The Crossroads of Czech and Czechoslovak Statehood” captures significant turning points in the history of the 20th century. The monument also features the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a monumental equestrian statue of Jan Žižka, and a café with a panoramic view of the city. The “Blue Room” in the Jaroslav Ježek apartment is the actual interior where the composer lived and worked. Here you’ll find his library, piano, printed sheet music works and objects from his estate. The Manes Exhibition Hall was built in 1930. It stands on concrete pillars over the branch of the Vltava flowing between the Masaryk Embankment and Slavonic Island. One of the first department stores in the country, it was built in functionalist style in the 1930s. The main façade, reaching five storeys high, is more or less one gigantic window. It was the first building in Prague to have escalators installed. Bílá labuť has continuously been a department store since it opened. Barrandov Studio is one of the largest and oldest film studios in Europe. During its more than 80 years of existence, more than 2,500 Czech and international motion pictures have been filmed here. It is one of very few film studios in the world that offers guided tours for groups during normal operations. In 2014, a new exhibition space opened that takes viewers behind the scenes of current film and television projects.
